Curtis is the daughter of Carmencita Ojales, a Filipina originally from Bolinao Pangasinan, and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian attorney. Her birthplace was Yarrawonga in Victoria, Australia. Her father was married in 1982. got married to Ojales. Her older sibling Jasmine is also an actress. Clare passed away from a heart disease in 2007, she was only four months old.
